Owner Review: Porsche Carrera GT vs. Ford GT Part 1 of 4

Mitty, nice write up but.....you forgot to mention the ground clearance on the CGT, which can be a real pain on the road. I have tracked the CGT multiple times at multiple locations and loved it (tried to buy one new but the deal died over $15k!!) but find it is in a difficult place: not a...

    warning--gas cap risk

gas cap well it sure sounds like we are talking apples and oranges. I will get a photo to post. I do suggest you check a parts catalog at your Ford dealer and decide what the foam piece is--about 6" in circumferance----that they show sticking around the filler hole.... clearly visible when...

    warning--gas cap risk

gas cap stormcat-- mine is directly visible when looking at the filler hole with the cap flipped open. it is mounted on the surrounding metal, acting as a berm to guide water to the drain hole rather than allowing it to drain into the filler itself.

    warning--gas cap risk

At a track session last week I noticed two of my friends' GTs were missing the gas cap seal--as my car was when it was delivered. If the seal is missing, rain water can leak past the gas cover and into your tank--causing a real nightmare for another friend of mine. Flip open your cap and look...

    gas cap problem

I recently learned that water/rain can leak into the gas tank as many gt's are missing a round seal/washer that attaches to the bottom of the flip top to the gas filler. my car is missing the part as are two of my friends' cars. My local ford dealer shows the part in the part manual. it is...

    GT or Galardo

out of the box At a certain point, it is hard to go wrong with a choice between a Gallardo and a GT. I have tracked an e-gear gallardo many times and it is one of the easiest cars I know to drive fast--especially with the e-gear. At the same time, I took a 360 coupe over the gallardo (now...

    Parking/Maintenance Lift.

I have been very happy with Eagle Lifts--220v xlt model allows 6'5" head clearance when up. Solid, safe, pretty smooth and fast.

    owner's dvd?

apparently the site is for dealers only--so you need to call your salesman or service head and give him/her the part number. The book is largely a picture book, with a lot of unusual graphics --foldouts etc. Nice, but not exceptional in any way.

    owner's dvd?

finally got GT book FYI-- I finally got my GT book, the "2005 GT Portfolio" that should have come with the car. The dealer sent it at NC. you can get one at www.dealerestore.com Item # 05GTPORT Now I have the DVD- manual (copy), trickle charger, car cover and book-- Amen! Hope I am not...

    Lamborghini vs. GT

I have tracked the Gallardo (with e-gear) and the Murcielago multiple times and I own a GT (not tracked). I have to say, I like the gallardo more than the Murcielago--feels lighter (though still much heavier than a stradale). The egear and 4 wheel drive make it easy to drive fast. Solid and...

    A Comedy of Errors

To those asking if this will be captured by CARFAX, it might occur that the concern is an ability to hide this episode from some future buyer: a buyer that may, in 12 or 24 months, be running a thread here on how some creep sold him a GT w/o disclosing a prior accident--an accident bad enough...

    Your Advice - 2005 Laded?

I have a Z8 and a GT and from a driving perspective they are apples and oranges. I have driven another Z8 on the track about 3 months ago, but have not yet tracked a GT. The Z8 is very disappointing on a track, but loads of fun on the road. I didn't expect it to be great, but it felt heavy...

What Do You Get With A Gt

Yes, John Titus narrates a compressed owner's manual for the car. It is well done and by the way, it stresses the need to let the car warm up properly given the dry sump oil system. Letting it warm up also helps an occasionally stiff 1-2 shift. Titus also referrences--and holds up a copy...
