I am looking for some, suppose I will have to have some made up. I can deal with no glove box, cup holders :biggrin , but have an issue trying to keep the floors clean. Any ideas, I am open.

I agree. I think some nice black mats with a red "Ford GT" logo would be an improvement.

Boy, I feel like I am reading my posts from last April. I had the same question when I first got my car.
Unfortunately there are no carpet floor mats available for the car that I have been able to find. The shape of the factory rubber mats make it particularly tough to cover with carpet. I was worried about scuffing up the exposed painted aluminum on both sides of the factory rubber mats. Ultimately I put on some 3M clear tape (the kind used to protect your door sills from scuffs) on the exposed areas. This has protected the paint, but I would still prefer a carpeted option.
It was suggested to bring the car in to a custom auto upholstery shop and have some custom shaped carpet mats made up, but I have not gotten around to that.
For a while I drove with a black terry towel on the floor to help with dirt, but I eventually took it out. All I can say if you get used to it…
If you guys would really like a custom tailored floor mat, I have a friend that does excellent custom interiors who left the OEM auto supply biz to open his own shop. They do automotive and marine work, mainly color matched to the exterior with Connolly leather. Or at least whoever replaced connolly when they bit the dust.
I'm sure I could get him to work something with a carpet/piping/logo mat based on the template of a stocker. If you're interested, let me know and I'll swing by with the factory mat to his shop.

I'm certainly very interested in quality floor mats. And since all the GT interiors are black, one size will fit all :-)
I'm sure many of us will order a set or 2.

I'm up for it. You could probably use some thick padding on the bottom to get the mats to lay flush over the uneven stock rubber mats.

Yeah, you'd need extra padding for a flush fit. I'm, interested in a set of carpet floormats. I'd want them really simple. Black w black piping around the edges, nothing flashy to draw attention or detract from the rest of the interior.

I agree with Chris. Black is the way to go. An embossed "Ford GT" logo on the side would be nice, but certainly not necessary.

I would agree. I would like ford GT on the side maybe in silver or red on black carpet
I'm hoping to get this done early next week. I'll probably have one set made, send it to a forum member for independant quality inspection and to have a forum-approved assessment, make any adjustments, then see how many guys want them and what the shop will charge for X number of sets...
Consensus is black/black, with maybe a small stitching of the logo.
P.S, what do you guys feel is an acceptable price for mats? I looked at what embroidered mats for the SRT-10 cost, and found from $159 to $299. Maybe it's just me, but 299 is ridiculous for anything you'll be putting your feet on, not in...

If there's no special stitching, $300 is incredibly expensive. Even with stitching, it had better be 14k white gold or platinum stitching ;)
That said, I'll take a set as long as the price is reasonable! Thanks for looking into this, DBK.

I think we all need this. let's get a bulk order out then. I need one set, would also think black with black piping would fit us all. Ford GT in silver on the outside part close to the seat would look classy. or a double silver stripe with Ford GT sitting in it, like on the forum site, what you think, guys ?
Who takes the initiative ? DBK, any idea what the bill will run up to ?
I'm going to run a stock set of mats out as a template to a custom auto trim place next week. I'll see how long it'll take to get ~10 sets done and what it'll cost. I'm thinking the total should be in the neighborhood of $1500 since there won't be elaborate logos or anything. Ford GT lettering should be reasonable at that price.

me too! thanks for your efforts. KO
I just ordered my GT today and I am disappointed to hear carpeted floor mats are not included standard. Seems odd. Even though I am not expecting delivery until sometime between January and March, I would be interested in a pair as well.
*Update*
Sorry it took so long, but an extra set of the stock floor mats was unavailable to use as a template because the passenger side mat was backordered. They're getting the extra set to me on the 21st and I will get it up to the custom shop asap.

I've had a GT for 3 weeks. Please add me to the list of those wanting floor mats.
Well, I took the mats to the shop and it appears the shape presents a problem. They could do a mat in the shape of the stock mat without the additional height, but wanted $250 a piece. The other alternative was covering the stock mat with a less durable show-type carpet to retain all the original dimensions, but that entails getting the stock mats to the shop which is unrealistic. Don't you guys feel $250 is a bit pricey for dupont carpet you're just using to collect dirt?
It's still an option, but I'm exploring other avenues right now.

At SEMA, I spoke to two companies (X-pel and Venture Tape) who make the invisible bras that protect against stone chips. They both have the GT in their computers that program the machines that cut the 3M plastic shield. I think it is just a matter of time before the major companies come out with a pattern for floor mats.
I have the SEMA directory that lists all the companies that make floor mats that attended the show
.
These manufactuers get the patterns from Ford. I would think if we want to
do a group buy we should get a better deal than $250. I am willing to do a broadcast fax to these manufacturers, or can fax the directory to anyone who
cares to be the point person.

Dont worry about the extra thickness on the factory mat. My company cuts foam every day. It's just a matter of removing the original mat, cutting a pc of .75" thick, 1.75# ethifoam then lay your custom mat over that.
Just picked my car up last week #1211. The guys should have the pattern for the foam made by the time I get back from Bowling Green early next week (12/20).

Any further updates on the mats? I have a generic set from Pep Boys (4.99) laying on top--- pretty cheesy, and worse of all dangerous as it somehow gets tangled with the accelerator and makes me speed at times.

Jerry, sorry for the delay, I have been off line working, no not for $$$ between Rotary, Boys & Girls Club have been busy. Just saw your post.
I bought from RoadWorks #100 black (lm2pc) lloyd mat $79.99 + $12shipping.
Just plain black mat, has vinyl or leatherette piping. Larger than standard, will protect some of the brightwork. If you really need a picture I will snap one,
please advise. Thanks!
Spoke with Road Works Auto and orderd the 48 oz Carpet Mats. Should be here in 2 weeks as well. I will let everyone know how they look when they get here.
Ordered mine today too. A week to 10 days, maybe. $131 w/ S/H. Got dark gray to break up the interior a bit.
Good idea on the dark grey, I hadn't thought about that, hmmm

Got mine today, both the 32 and the 48 oz.
Both are cut the same with rubbery backing so they don't slip.
The 48oz are really plush, but make it very difficult to pull the lever to move the seat forward and back, not that I ever need to move the seat.
The passenger mat is extra wide and curls a bit at the edge. I was about to be pissed and call them when I noticed a note on the mat explaining that this was by design for the passenger side, for 'extra protection'. After pulling them out I noticed a scratch on the floor (wifes high heels) that this extra bit of mat would have prevented, so I guess it's all good.
The drivers side is a bit narrow at the back (toward the seat).
Over all I am happy with them. 48's are really plush, the 32's are what you'd expect them to be.
I'll try to up some pics later.

Got my dark gray mats from Road Works today. I wanted the gray to break up the interior. They fit very well, and blend in well between the black general interior and the silver trim sill plates.
Good quality units for about $131 w/ S&H.

Too funny... my California license plate is "Awsum GT" I asked the floor mat company to put "Awsum GT" embroidered into the mats and they said they can't put the letters GT on the mats because Ford would sue them. They said they couldn't even put Ford on the carpet if the customers name was ford.
