To quote him "Damn thisa thing is fast". he let up early to get in the 205-220 range so he could move his liense to the unlimited speed.
Bike caught on fire, no injuries.
Mark H found the MAP wire was off and his next run should be 205-220 then it's balls to the wall.
Oh and a prediction on Soroush.......He won't beat my 226.2 and will have to wear a funny pink tshirt......AGAIN.
Keep info coming. Good luck to all.

uploading Chips in car video on first run. Will give you guys an idea of what the track is like. There is a bump just before the 1/4 and a bump in the shutdown area. The track has a slight incline until 1/3 mile then it's a decline.

I little late with this, but if your speedo is calibrated in the tune correctly you can have Torrie give you the option of setting the speed limiter to the middle of the qualifying speed. That way the ECU will make sure you cross the line at the right speed.

WOW what a day, Night....
so I take my car to the shop to get it dyno'd we had so much trouble with it, it was acting up and not idling right etc..... it took forever to get it dialed in and it still doesnt idle right, but thats not impotant, it took them 7 hrs to dyno the car and get it dialed in, by then Im exhausted and make my way back home (its 45 min drive to my house) by now its already 8pm, as I get closer to my house I notice a noise and when I turn around to look what do I find? a piece of the sc belt had come apart and it was shredded, thankfully I made it home and got out and confirmed the bad news,
Just for a moment I said well this is not going to happen for me, but then I put the car on the lift took the pans out, all other belts etc, got the sc belt out and replaced it with another that I had from a while ago and put everything together, it is now 4 am:eek and I just finished, but my plans remain and I shall be on my way to beeville tomorrow morning :) without divulging too much information chances are very good that mullet will be wearing a pink shirt:secret: I will post dyno numbers and graph after the texas mile stay tuned.... let see how the rest of this weekend pans out.
I think ill go get two hrs of sleep now. :)

Gentlemen,
The mariachi girls could not stay away from Mark. What a hoot. The wind never did calm down so all 3 of us made runs right before the shutdown. Mark's GT was 3 mph ahead of his 235 run at the 3/4 marker but the car was getting blown around so much he shut down and ran a 198. Sorush ran a 175 with another blown hose. I ran 213 (again) with my car moving 10 feet from side to side.
Speeds have sucked but the event has still been a blast. Running a TT GT flat out is a rare and special experience. Hanging out with Mark, Soroush, Tomy, Mullet & crews has been even better. This weekend reminds me of the old joke about a man describing the worst sex he ever had....."It was FANTASTIC!!!"
The wind is supposed to howl again tomorrow but hope springs eternal.

These pictures were taken Saturday during the day. Talked to Chip this morning as they arrived early in hopes they open the run early before the wind and heat makes it impossible or too dangerous to run. If it gets dangerous they will head for home early. It really got scary on the track yesterday. Veronica and Sue were real troopers yesterday as the conditions were horrible on the tarmac (wind, heat and dirt blowing). Texas mile entries for Ford GT's were only three on Sat., Chip, Mark H, and Soroush.

Gentlemen,
Today was a bust as well. I'll write a more complete summary when I get home. Soroush burned a plug electrode completely off and could not run. Mark's GT ran a 232. And I ran my 4th consecutive 213. My last 4 runs were within 0.2 mph of each other. Headwind now 34 mph. You could not design worse conditions in a computer. Most drivers went home last night. Most of those that came back today left after 1 run. Not much more to say. Cheers.

Texas is just full of wind this weekend. The Byron nelson had a constant 25-30mph wind, and here in Austin I hit some golf balls and would say it was a constant 15-20mph. I'll blame that for my slice, haha year right. Sorry it didnt work out as planned but glad everyone made it out safe.

Terry,
These were the slowest TT runs at the Mile that I have done. Thrilling would be an understatement. Most of these runs were somewhere between thrilling and terrifying! When Soroush ran 210 he told me it was one of the scariest things he's ever done. Mark's driver got to the 3/4 sign and was getting blown so far off line that he shut down. The bikers said they were getting blown all over the place. The 1/4 mile markers even blew over. I had a couple high blood pressure moments when my GT seemed to jump way off line at 200+. BUT....we had fun off the track, everybody had a safe weekend, and #34 is tucked back into the trailer for it's return to Cool Tech (in the same shape it left there!) so Kendall can turn it back into a street car. Look's like I'll be going to Mojave.

Man Chip, when I read you said you were blown 10 feet off line I knew things were scarey. I have been in some pretty hairy cross winds at these events but never had much drama with tracking. I am just glad to hear some of the not so aero cars didn't really get blown into the weeds. There is a video of a Porsche in a past event where the guy is fighting a cross wind and when he lets up the car spins. :eek
In any case, looking forward to seeing you when you check in with Kendall. Do you have an ETA?

After watching the sparring match between the two all day Saturday and realizing mullets relationship with the Texas Mile founders , I can see that for $1.95 Mullet can get just about anything printed, made or produced. AND THE STORY GOES ON AND ON AND ON UNTIL THE NEXT RUN. I also was wondering Where Was Mullets GT This Weekend At The Texas Mile? All I Saw Him In Or On Was Soroush And His Little Motorbike! He rode around all weekend looking for a ride but I never saw him with his driving gear on? I repeat " THE BEAT GOES ON". Great fun and funny weekend. ^ very funny,
wow, what terrible conditions, but you guys already knew that, inspite of it all It was great fun seeing everyone and running at the new track.
unfortunately the track is terrible with sudden elevation changes(bumps), and thats nothing to do with the conditions, the wind was relentless and never let down,
I had lots of troube from the start of the whole weekend, I guess when my car took four hrs to idle right I should have seen the signs, clearly she didnt want to go to beeville :)
however she made a lot of power I will post up the dyno number and graph later, but at the end of the night on friday after multiple pulls on the hot humid weather in houston, she made 1121 hp to the wheels with nearly 1000 ft lbs of torque all around 4000 rpm! it was unfortunate that I could not harness that power and put it to good use(kick mullets butt :)) but as tomy said the saga continues
the tune may be off a little as when we pulled the plugs the car seemed to be running lean and one of the spark plugs was completly melted off, however no apparant engine damage, I borrowed a plug from chip and she fired right up idled fine and jumped right back on the trailer to come home, she is put away now and Im really tired I think I got 7 hrs of sleep in the last three days!
thanks again to everyone that helped out chip, tomy, mark H, and yes mullet too I guess :)
I cant say I will be back to the next texas mile if the condition remain the same and im not talking about the wind, but rather the track.
one last note I like to mention, if it wasnt for bill at DA I would have not been able to make the trip, he was on the phone with me all night before we left guiding me through the challenging sc belt swap, I like to thank him as well.

If you don't like the runway in TX come out to Mojave. Skyrex will get another FGT only event going! Smaller lines, cool temps, long braking zone, running with the winds on your side with a 1% downhill slope. The only downside is the air density at 2600'. Nothing a quick adjustment to the boost controller or change in nitrous jets can't solve. Us blower guys have to change pulleys :(

at this place (if they did it the other way) if you go too far you would go into a highway AND the only way into the track. I doubt we would want concrete barriers to stop the people that cannot stop in time.

Congrats to all and glad everyone was safe in the crazy windy conditions. FYI, about 4-5 yrs ago we ran a TT Viper at Goliad and ran a 217 mph standing mile speed while running into a 12 mph headwind. That car was making right at 1000 rw hp. A week later we took the exact same car at the exact same power level and ran it at Maxton Mile. With a 3-5 mph tail wind and maybe 10 degree cooler air we ran 225 mph. 15 mph of wind + 10 deg cooler equalled 8 mph for us on that car.
I have suggested to Jay and Shannon that they do a 3rd date in late January or February of each year. Maybe around the Presidents Day holiday weekend or MLK day weekend. The chances of a front coming thru and having cool, dry air with a tail wind are pretty good that time of the year in south Texas.
I have also suggested that they establish an early morning run group for cars and bikes that run over 200 mph. They would most likely need to charge an additional fee for this as they would need more staff or to work them longer. But there is a huge difference in running down the track at 7-8 am vs 10 am. I would pay extra to be able to do that, especially if there were less cars and I was able to get 2-3 runs in before it warms up. If you guys support either of these ideas then please pass along your thoughts to the organizers. They are good people and run a business and they have proven to be responsive to what their customers want while also improving safety.

Late model or Winston cup car with a 69' Body shell on top?

Late Model Racecraft from Houston. Their Camaro did 245 while going sideways thru the timing lights. He pulled the chute which saved the car from going off track and flipping.

Me and Chip talked about exactly that while at the texas mile! I just cant justify 3-4k dollar transport fee for an event like that!
that would be a NO Freddy , I havent used iridiums for three years now, since we have been spraying the car.
this is the only reason i don't race at the Texas Mile anymore. it is just too far for me....
when my divorce is finalized, i look forward to racing at Mojave again....

Sounds like a future SoCal Rally with a Mojave Mile event!

^^^^ - i really missed you guys :frown the weather conditions that you guys had at Mojave this year were ideal :driving:
longer track distances than 1 mile are very rare and MKM allowed that for the GT forum only :usa you guys were blessed to make that event. knowing how strict Mike and his Tech team are on safety i am sure that it took alot of persuasion on Tom's part to bend Mikes arm to allow the GT forum to have a special day like that....
i am proud of you guys for not having any "incidentents" at that event :thumbsup which leaves the door left open for MKM to give us another shot at a 1.4 mile race again in the future :cool

Thought I would post a quick reply about our experiences at the Texas Mile this go round. All in all, I have to say a big THANKS to Hennessey Performance for being able to put together one fast car and to be able to put a number down like 235.1mph in those conditions speaks for itself. In working with Hennessey Performance we decided to try something nobody had really done and my hats off to Kevin and Dwayne and all the other guys in the shop that had a hand in this build. I think it is very important for everyone to know that the first true pass on this car netted the 235mph with no break in on the motor and no street time as well. We did do two shakedown runs to get to qualify to run for unlimited and once that was accomplished we decided our first run on Saturday morning would be the one to see what the car would do. No doubt we could not hit the car in 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd gear but hoped to be able to mat the gas pedal to the floor in 4th and 5th. Just so happens that the car held forth somewhat well and 5th was no problem with traction The track conditions were not the greatest but with the power we put down we were able to run in the windy conditions and overcome the bumps down the runway. It was great seeing the fellow GT owners out as well and we look forward to a larger turn out in October once the weather calms down a bit. I have tried to post a link to a dyno of the car but not sure it will work.

Can you tell us some details on your build?

Do boost-by-gear in that car. With a little fine tuning you can get the perfect traction all the way up the track.
Congrats. Looking forward to seeing what it will do in October.
