Man, it isn't the same. No one has the time to post a comment on nearly every thread, no one has censorship skills like the bony, and no one has the unique wit that we became so accustomed to reading daily. It just isn't the same! :thumbsdow He was taken way too soon!

agreed, but we must pull together and keep this place the special hangout it has been for all of us for soo long. Bony would hate to see that change.

You cut me to the quick!!! Unfortunately, you are also right. But let me give you another perspective. The person who enjoyed this forum more than any other, didn't bother to read Daniel's posts. Hundreds of members other than Daniel provided him with a wealth of information, entertainment, and good fellowship. At every opportunity that presented itself, he got together with fellow GT Forum members to drive, party, laugh, and share good conversation. He was not interested in what Daniel had to say, but was very interested in what other members had to say. Still, he found this the most enjoyable place on the World Wide Web.

I am speaking of Daniel himself of course, who did not read BONY posts, he wrote them. Without the benefit of reading Bony posts, the Ford GT Forum was a very special place to Daniel then, and to me today. The camaraderie present at the Elbow Room the night before Daniel's service was ample evidence of that. I miss Daniel Bonyhadi. Today, I relish his legacy and enjoy all the more the amazing group of owners that DBK has assembled here.

How's that for trying to find a bright side?

Well said. It will feel strange for a long time without Bony's input. But, moving forward and new people, ideas and personalities, will keep it alive as a "special hangout".

Excellent Chip, I know you were a special friend to bony. I added what I think is you and your yellow GT at the Rally II El Toro event in the images of bony thread, as a reminder of part of bony's contacts here on the web were his Scottsdale, Az. pals. I asked him Thursday night of Rally III at the Hotel Bar in Vegas, over his Maker's Mark Manhattan, if he had a good time in Scottsdale, nothing but a big grin, ear to ear. He also had a great time at the Barrett-Jackson dinner recently, I remember calling him the night of your dinner and recognizing just how much friendship he had garnered breaking into the Arizona GT group. I won't forget him, a unique individuals amongst unique individuals.

I think it's all a bit too soon to think about returning to normal service. I haven't felt like posting much recently - but, be warned, I will..... :biggrin

Agreed, I too feel the loss and a change in the demeanor of the Forum. it is forever changed and we all must accept this fact. I just miss the personal emails from Daniel requesting advice on particular topics. And his perpetual interest in what was going on with me (as well as many, many others).

Chip is eloquent and a great composer of well thoughout posts. I am sure we are in good moderation hands...and hopefully self moderation will assist them in the transition. But it is just different....

You will do just fine at this. The only mistake you can make is trying to fill the shoes that were left. Daniel was unique, and if you try to become him, you can't be successful. It is always very difficult to follow someone like him, but it is possible (I do it all the time in my work). Time is your friend.

You are also unique (and I say that in a good way :biggrin ).

Just be you. The rest will fall in place.

And if you really suck at it, call me and I will tell you what to say :cheers (hey, can't be a completely sincere message).

The Forum is not the same.....but it is always changing. In its infancy everyone here bought their GT brand new (or in the case of some of you GT's" :biggrin) .....then it evolved to include people who bought their cars used......then people who sold their GT, realized their error and did a back pedal to rejoin the ownership ranks. :lol......and so on and so on. So many great stories.....often with pics included :wink to take up some time in your day and bring a smile to your face.

From personal relationships to car modifications, this site has and will continue to change. But the great part is that the relationships with people that you never would have known came from the car/site. I am coming up on one year of ownership and if you would have told me when I bought the car that I would make friends with people I had met over the internet on a web site devoted to a car, meet them in person, become better friends and look forward to the next get together I would have said you were :willy:willy.

But I did.....and it still surprises me because it never happened with my other cars. I never even considered that it could happen. This is a small, personal site because of the small car run. Most people are owners, but more importantly all seem to be really great people. I didn't know Bony nearly as well as many of you. I know that I miss his posts and his personality. But I am going to paraphrase something I heard from a speech at Bony's memorial.

"When this special group of owners met in person something amazing happened. The cars became irrelevant. The friendships we made at that event pushed the cars into the background and we found a group of people that truly shared similar passions." That statement can be credited to your new moderator Chip Beck. That is what makes this place great. No things will not be the same.....but the best we can do is carry on trying to make every day a great one. That is a great way to help a friend who is no longer with us live on in the spirit of camaraderie that he so ably helped create.

Sorry I got a bit long winded.....this topic is still a little surreal and close to the surface. There is only one way to end a post like this.

God Bless America. :usa

Knowing Eric as I do, he certainly wouldn't have been criticising anyone. But we would do well to remember that Eric is a surgeon. He's around noxious gasses all day. Every day. This makes him confused and unsteady on his feet. Add to this his enormous appetite for foreign beers - and, 'voila' I give you Atomic! :lol

Keep the faith!

This forum will be fine.

The moderators and the members collectively are here to help and know how this forum is to be conducted and whats crickett and whats not.

This forum and its members are as special as the car its dedicated to. Collectively we all intend to keep it that way.

I can't say anything that really hasn't already been said...

Yes the forum will be fine.... more than fine....

Though Daniel is and will remained missed, his passing has already opened our minds and hearts even more...

The saying that Obie - one - Canobie says to Darth Vader in the Original Star Wars, "If you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine!"

Bony was powerful in our friendships that we all had with him and though his passing is unwarranted, unwanted etc... In his passing a greater strength has happened to us and this Forum.... though, I still wish he was here and would gladly trade the strength we've been given because of his passing to have him here again...

Cheers

All comments so well said. I am priviledged to be a part of this great forum.
We are grieving for our friend, one of our leaders. Things are going to be out of sorts for some time, emotionally, mentally and intellectually. But DBK and Bony....and the mighty Ford GT... created a band of brothers that will not cease.

I was just thinking the other day that it was about this time last year that we lost Bony. I think he passed away on the 21st. Hard to believe it has been a year.

Bony, we had a nice memorial run yesterday around Julian, Temecula, and some went to the desert. You would have enjoyed it, and I know you would have driven down from Fresno to join in.
